A collaboration with Ana Laura Lopez de la Torre.
During the second week of ‘In-Presentable’ 2007 Joshua Sofaer and Ana Laura Lopez de la Torre offered themselves to the citizens of Madrid, in whatever capacity they wanted. If they couldn't decide what colour to repaint their bathroom a focus group was initiated; if they needed a boyfriend a date was arranged; if they wanted to petition government signatures were gathered. Assisted by local artists and performers, the group did their best to help people and solve their problems. On some days they performed acts of ‘spontaneous support’ in the neighbourhood, for example: tidying up mess, helping residents with their shopping, or giving directions to lost people.
At the end of each hard day’s work the group reported back for 15 minutes on who they had helped and how, in the main lobby of La Casa Encendida.
An ongoing and growing exhibition documenting the performance interventions made over the week could be viewed throughout the duration of the festival.
